Monsoon rains in western India means the sky is cloudy for weeks together. And one doesn’t get to see the sun for weeks and sometimes a month.
Sky’s been dark
Full of clouds
Sun is hiding
For a long time
It’s wet everywhere
Clothes are moist
Sitting for long
Can make you sprout
But behind all gloom
Green shines through
As moss is spreading
On the slanting roofs
Trees look loaded
With lots of green
Shrubs showing off
Their wealth of leaves
Frogs make merry
In puddles and ponds
Birds keep shivering
Hiding on branch
Drops of water
Trickle from leaves
Drop on the ground
To join the streams
Grass is thicker
Bright and green
Awash in rains
The land is serene
