Early one morning

While he was asleep

Night was yet to

Surrender it’s reign

As daylight sluggishly

Crawled from east

She slipped on her clothes

And gazed at him

A forlorn look

Spilled on her face

A kiss on his cheek

Tender and quick

And a last long look

At his face

She pulled herself

And turned around

Before she had

Any second thoughts

Holding her tears

Stifling her sobs

Opened the door

One last time

Walked away forever

From his life
