as you twist and turn

close your eyes

darkness avoids

to soak you black

stops at the skin

and far beyond

a hanging veil

beyond your grasp

and as you watch

every shape you see

everything around

motionless and still

but dreams somehow

keep eluding you

darkness refusing

to waltz in your eyes
