Evening Strange

In middle of nowhere

When sun’s gone down

And night has yet to

Arrive and bloom

It’s kind of strange

Dull yet charged

Nothing does happen

Some thing goes on

The dog sits quietly

Down at my feet

Gets up in a start

To bark at a whim

Then abruptly it does

Become all sane

Lies on its blanket

All rolled up again

It’s eyes though keep

Scanning everything

As if there’s some

Unknown unseen

I try to hear

See intently

Nothing is felt

And nothing is seen

But there is something

I have started to feel

Evenings are strange

Not all are same

Some are tired

Some give relief

Some just stare

Back at you
