Myths

Glorious Past

Respect our past,

For it had been gold

Forgetting it

Is a crime too grave

Puritanical’s blare

Politician too endorse

But then how far in the past

Do we, need to go

Just a few centuries

Or eons before

In the era of kings and empires at war

Or much before, where it began

In African rainforest where

Sapiens first walked

Or a little before

When apes swinged on trees

Or can we stretch it, a little more back

To amoebas and plankton and what not

That formed in the sea

When the land was blank
