If That Day Ever Arrives
Kittens and rabbits, monkeys and clowns
Peacocks, pups and roving butterflies
All lay stuffed, beneath the pile
That life keeps on accumulating
They plead and screech, meow and whine
To let them out, once in a while
Will crawl back they say, under the pile
Once they had, their share of light
Want to fly in winds, swing on trees
Search for rainbows, steal its tinge
Pluck stars from sky, for just a thrill
Tickle the moon, watching with a frown
Till he shakes with boyish laughter
I too smile and nod my head
Will leave you out, one day for sure
If that day ever arrives
Whispers silently, the pile of stuff
