Alone on a Train Journey

Once in a while, I travel on

A slower train, a journey long

Alone, light with no baggage

Emotional, sentimental and otherwise

Leaving that over-smart, analytical mind

In a deep freezer back at home

And surrender myself to watch in awe

Whatever the train, wants to show

Greens, mountains, tunnels or hills

Rivers, lakes or barren lands

And ever widening distant horizon

Stretching endlessly

Crude or polished, talkative or aloof

Mass of people, mills around

With nothing to expect, nothing to give

Everyone feels quite soft and round

Ironic that these cubicles and a crowd

Should liberate me, from tight confines

Of my compartmentalised existence
