Destruction
anytime, anywhere, to anyone.
Air, water, fire, earth
any one of them
can do it.

Why?
the question may arise
in a thinking mind
though there’s no use in asking
not even oneself

Who will death reach,
who will be a living dead
who will live in memory,
and who will live on
the memories of their past
who knows

Like a paper plane diving down
sometimes a plane falls from the sky,
un-ignited
Sometimes fires break out
Sometimes roads abruptly end
lives of many

Ten, twenty, twenty-five,
sometimes a hundred, two hundred and more
in a single moment,
Destroyed

Sometimes
rolling bulldozers in minutes destroy
livelihoods and lives
Sometimes, with an artful twist
bail is denied
files are closed
and pardons doled out

Imperceptibly sometimes
paths narrow down
and fade into oblivion
stifling the present
and unleashing on the future
Destruction

In the end, what remains
are bodies
dead
or physically alive
and an endless void,
overflowing with tears
and echoing endlessly
muffled cries
