For Eternity
was also the last of our moments
together,
and I left knowing
I won’t be seeing her again.
I turned back for one last glance
the last one.
What I saw
keeps coming back,
in moments of silence,
on occasions of pride,
in solitude and in crowds.
Its embers refusing to die
keep charring me inside,
slowly,
for eternity.
She stood in the window,
her eyes watching me.
Was she urging me to leave,
or trying to hold back?
I couldn’t decipher the words
crowding her eyes.
The walls held her in,
doors had been locked,
and the window framed my frozen dream
to fly,
for eternity
