Imprisoned

Saw this image online somewhere and it made me think

Imprisoned

Love blooms in places

It never has a chance

Rising from the ground

It keeps on scaling walls

Wants to feel a heart from near

It had been watching from afar

Shielded by walls and iron bars

The heart had turned harsh

Wound and scars had made it wary

Cold to any advance

There was a chance

While heart hadn’t turned into stone

And grasping it

Love had turned to a vine

To climb on the iron bars

Now close for heart to hear

It started singing a song

Of yearning a sea had

For some distant land

Overtures sea would send with waves

The shores would turn it back

The sea though never losing hope

Didn’t stopped from reaching out

The song also spoke of a longing

That love had since long

To hold in its palms the heart

Ravaged by scars of past

And turn it soft again

The way it was

  1. Shashi, this poem is beautifully emotional. I love how you’ve captured love’s persistence and the vulnerability of the heart. The imagery of love as a vine is especially powerful. Great work!

    Much love,
    David
