Mocking Heart
He went on methodically
With the butcher’s knife
Cutting every part cleanly
Avoiding spills
Packed them in polythene
Individually
For his heart
Had in mind a special place
A slow torturous death
Above embers of the fireplace
It was the reason
He was cutting himself
Into pieces
To complete the work
She left midway
Before she abandoned him
After bleeding him bare
Of any pain
And now just one arm remained
And he realised late
After cutting it
He’ll need her help
To hang his heart above the embers
Of his fireplace
While heart watched
Beating with disdain
Mocking him to go ahead
