Overcast
Overcast sky has lasted for days
Almost a month long
Drizzling without much rest
As though clouds have decided
To unload at one place
At a leisurely pace
Underneath everyone goes on
Individual rhythms syncing perfectly well
With rhythm of the whole
Shrugging of the weather
Focusing on their endeavours
They create a parade
Magnificent yet lacking a soul
Though even on clear days
There’s not much of a change
Many almost never see, hear or smell
The complex yet beautiful interplay
Of colours, sounds and fragrances
Missing out on tiny colourful gems
Of wide eyed naïve pleasures
That lay on detours
Never taken
Reaching workplace, reaching home
Taking stock of what they owe and own
Deliberate on what to eat
And what to wear
Are their sole targets
With changing seasons
Clouds will surely disperse
Though the sky in our minds will be
Forever
Overcast and clouded

How true! People are so engrossed in their thoughts that they don’t pay attention to the world around them
