The prompt was to write about the image given below.
Prayer
One prays sincerely and fervently
Begging to the divine
To fill in the gaps
That fate keeps on leaving blank
As if the divine
Will grant their wish
Looking at the prayer
And it’s intensity
Or sometimes
One is enlightened enough
Knowing there’s no divinity
Yet bows to their fate
What it keeps throwing at them
Helplessly
Most of the times
It’s a habit a routine
Picked up at an age
When they learnt to imitate
Without understanding anything
And they still do not
Nor they want to understand
For it’s easier to follow
Than question everything

Some people do pray as a habit. Some pray because they feel a connection and others pray when they are desperate. The answer lies in the reason why they pray and what they get out of it. Thanks for joining in Shashi.
