Shadows of the past

This poem is written in response to a prompt by https://lifeafter50forwomen.com/2021/10/06/tuesday-writing-prompt-shadows-of-our-past/

Shadows of the past

Been walking along everyday

Half in search, rest in vain

As lights of tomorrow, shine ahead

Shadows of the past

Seem to melt away

Some lost on the way

Some left behind

Some lost in the dazzling

Tomorrows light

Yet a few of them refuse to leave

Hiding in scars and healing wounds

As one turns to look behind

In those moments of solitude

You see them all faint and long

Always by your side
