The War is not over

The War is not over

The war is not over

Battles should be fought

In every town every street every corner every home

In every mind

That is poisoned with hate

And forwards on mobile

That don’t end

In every town every state every country

Every continent

There’s life

Beautiful simple innocent

A dead twig clinging to its branch

In a downpour

Not letting go

A single leaf smiling from rocks

It’s roots digging deeper

Then we’ll ever know

Yet we hide behind a facade

Of a normalcy

Unaware or of turbulence

Existing deep

Uncaring where it will lead

Forgetting there are souls

That walk a path

Much harder much steeper and slippery

Than we do

There are those that have slipped

Lying abandoned in the dark

And there are those unfortunate ones

Stranded

Having no path ahead of them

Empathy and charity

Togetherness and teams

Fairness and Justice

Equality and equity

Are words that are thrown about

At keynotes and seminars

Unmoved the audience applauds

Their minds laced with spikes and mines

And glass shards

Of unending hate

There’s battles to be fought

In every street every corner every home

Every mind

That have to be won somehow

For our children to live in peace

Sleep without fear

Assured of waking up

To a cheerful sunrise
