Thoughts of an Unyielding Mind
Sometimes, feel I need a break
Streams of chaos, mundane, frivolity
And of despicable acts
Meet the bloodied cruelty
Of mutilated children in bomb shelters
Going hungry
Of children abused and killed
In their own, safe
Neighbourhood
Just witnessing it
Overwhelms reason
Emotions tightly controlled
Threaten to overflow
Clouding sanity
Others can survive that
They have been slowing down
Over irregular oversized speed bumps
Compensating on the flats
Since the game has changed
Incontrovertibly
Should have gotten used to it
By now
Something inside refuses to yield
To conform to the new reality
Turns me into a fortified shell
Of emptiness
While the conflicts in collective minds
Fizzles out
Who wins, don’t know
But do know who loses
Humanity
