Timberland

These lines are written in response to a prompt on https://christinebialczak.com/2023/10/24/simply-6-minutes-welcome-to-the-challenge-10-24-2023/#

The prompt was to write about the picture given below

Timberland

It had been a long time

That the dilapidated house

Had felt the presence

Of joy wandering through its corridors

Crashing into walls

With unrestrained exuberance

Of sadness or grief

That hobbled around in search of balance

Of many a tears and stifled cries

That hid behind doors

And of innocence waddling around in diapers

With tiniest of steps

A tree felt that need

Started growing tall

Roots crept along the floor

Trunk merged with walls

Branches leaves wood and bark

Enveloping the house in a steady warmth

Of timberland
