Your Always-On Smile

·

A free-verse reflection on how the memory of a smile rekindles joy in a weary life.

Your Always-On Smile

Someone placed a flower wild
on my dull, dreary, almost dead,
weary desk of life.

At once it made me think
go back to the memories
of your always-on smile.
Rarely do I have the pleasure
of seeing it
up close, in person,
these days.

Visualising it
the smile,
on a disarming face,
with that gentle grace
you radiate
vividly in my mind,
spreading ripples of joy
somewhere deep inside,
I instantly smiled.

I smiled again, a second time,
for a thought waiting in the wings
stepped into the limelight

“One look at you,
and even death could come alive.”
