The line “ I am too old, too tired and too fuckin’ blind” is from the movie “ The scent of a Woman”. Al Pacino has delivered this line, which is part of his long and powerful monologue at fag end of the movie.

Angst
A glance at them
And I feel old
So much the world has changed
Have to suppress my urge to say
In the bygone days
For no one would hear
Nor care
That era has gone they feel
It’s time for shrill cries
And sharp claws
And canines ripping apart
Everything that’s left human
Of humanity
I am tired of making sense
Of what goes by
In the name of competing
And winning
There’s no glory no grace
Just a relentless pace
To succeed
I have gone blind, they say
To not see what’s bang in front
And almost everywhere
Life has changed for better
They sincerely proclaim
Have learnt the hard way
Not to argue
Instead I repeat to myself
I am too old, too tired
Too fuckin’ blind
For these kind of days

A depressing scenario Shashi. Makes us lose faith in humanity.
I mean at individual almost all people are good.
But something changes when they gather in a crowd. Crowd can be physical or online. It can be religious, political, linguistic or any other.
But I think as individuals we aren’t all good either.
Yes. But reasonably we are still good on individual level. Of course there are variations but it’s not so bad.
Yes, reasonably good, or not that bad.
And one more point for writing such lines, is that we need to write more about society and people we live with.
Mountains, rivers, trees, butterflies, etc., has been much written about. It’s good no doubt. Helps us escape reality. But then reality also needs to be written about.
I fully agree with you my friend. As a writer we can change the outlook of the people who read our writing and this topic must be addressed
A very honest and deeply-felt poem. Thanks for sharing!
Thanks a lot for your kind words.
