Children of War

Children of War

They have a blank gaze

That doesn’t hide nor convey

Their pain

It’s difficult to understand

At that tender age

What hurts and what won’t

Even pain doesn’t last long

Just the fear

Of it coming back again

Few may whimper or cry

Bandages soaked blood red

The only bright colour seen

After a long time on them

On both sides of the border

Man made

Sun doesn’t stop at the gates

To immigrate

Moon doesn’t show off many passport

Smug and vain

Though with the winds and clouds

Bullets and missiles too rain

A scene that repeats itself

Almost every decade

Children taste the fruits

Of their fathers deeds

And sins forefathers had

Long gone committed
