Blight
Lost in the unfathomable depths of your eyes
Evening dragged on endlessly
Your luminous eyes kept alive
The day
Though sun had gone down the hill
Night eager to carry me
To hallucinating lands of broken sleep
Had to wait
It’s been years
Rather don’t remember being submerged
Ever in a restful sleep
Demons awakened by the day
Turn vicious by the aging night
Keep asking questions
Though never telling what they want
I helplessly try to recollect
What it was about a forgettable day
That has cast the blight
Have seen some hope
In your warm eyes
Today
Demons may not arrive tonight or night after
Or may be never
Though I know they’ll keep lurking in shadows
For the pestilent days are still the same
Full of meanness hate vendetta and debauchery
I do have a choice
Close my eyes to everything
And open them only to you
It does help
Though for how long
Wish I knew
