Still searching
I have tried searching for hope
In glasses filled with liquid gold
Topped with floating silver cubes
Which melt away with every sip
My despair could learn to do that
The melting bit
Though it refuses to do so
Consolidating even more
At the bottom of my emptying glass
Have searched for meaning since long
In decorating my home
Each corner filled with junk
Bought online
Seen hope in enterprise
That has led nowhere somehow
May be notches higher in standing
And accolades that ended
Before I could bask in them
Seen everything in world rise sky high
Then crumble and breakdown
Leaving a scaffolding
Ugly behind
That gloats at itself with pride
Seen people killed for nonsense
Or get raped where they are safe
And they don’t leave anything behind
Not even a scaffolding
Have come to know by now
Nothing lasts and nothing helps
Can steal few moments of peace
Or a night long of it, when I sleep
Though despair returns somehow
As night begins it’s end
