Brighter Moments (Pediatric Patients)

Brighter Moments (Pediatric Patients)

A tiny skinny figure

Walks in along with her mother

Thin Crescent of a moon

With a smile brighter than sun

She’s nimble on her feet

Matches her mothers stride

Climbs quickly on a chair

Before mom can sit down

Her complaints are usual

A runny nose or slight fever

But she never ever complains

It’s all done by her mother

Yet whenever I ask her

What breakfast she had today

She moves her neck

From this side to side that

Saying

Mom didn’t today serve her

Oh! Saying I glare in jest

How can you keep your child in hunger

Mother starts off saying she is full

And I wink at that tiny wonder

(This patient of mine whenever asked, what you had for breakfast, still nods her head vehemently saying, “Nothing at all” and then I fake anger and admonish her mother for keeping her hungry to see that gal chuckle and smile)
