Civilisation on Autopilot
Civilisation on Autopilot
For most of us,
life has become a long commute
between reaching office and leaving for home,
between earning income
and paying bills,
between buying now
and paying forever
Between birth and death
a sterile commute prolonged with care
lies life, emptied of its true essence
camaraderie, warmth and candid connect
with travellers sharing the train
A pampered ego resides
side by side
with an unshakable loneliness.
Brazenness hides anxieties
Trembling with fear
We root for the past,
mostly our fragmented interpretations of it,
while living in a far better present
and have a muddled notion
About our future
As if it’s distinct from others
and Mother Nature
We measure our progress
in technological innovations,
market indices,
and currency valuations,
while society teeters
on the brink of disintegration.
As the past tightens its grip on the future,
the present gasps
struggling for breath
between the two.

Without spirituality, the humdrum life is indeed only a long commute
Actually from my POV now that humans have gained reasonable scientific knowledge, they don’t require spirituality or religion to keep them in line.
To live morally and ethically we don’t require a religion to guide us. In the past maybe 1000 years before it was a need to keep us together and united. Now they have lost their relevance and are rather causing more strife. In their need to stay relevant they are creating fanatic legions who are follow scriptures to the t. Their one qualification is a closed mind that never questions their faith.
What we need is just two things
1. a child like forgiving and non discriminatory nature
2. and an unending curiosity.
Lastly apologies if I have inadvertently hurt your feelings by the above words.
You are fully entitled to your thoughts and views. Whatever gives you peace. My peace comes from my strong faith and my religion.
Yes. Every one has their own views and opinions based on the experiences they have had in their lives. And I respect yours. 100%.
