Illumination

Illumination | Poem by Shashikant Dudhgaonkar

Illumination

A lot happens in the world
yet most don’t absorb
It’s not that people don’t need to understand
rather people don’t want to
they have immediate things to attend to
And there are many who live without
awareness,
of the situational kind
neither familial nor social
nor political nor cosmological
but they do well in life
commendably most of the times
even great,
at times
And my thoughts
with all my awarenesses
multiple, needless and alive
get pulled and stretched
in directions
unknown and untried
Amplifying errors
revealing neglect
illuminating barbarity and brutality
that hides behind the veil of
conceited smugness
Life
now I have come to arrive
bereft of any awareness
can be extremely beautiful
Why ruin it
