Sheep

Sheep – A Poem by Shashikant Dudhgaonkar

Sheep

By

Sheep graze in the meadows
Silently
Converting tons of grass to wool
And meat

They fight when they are sheared
Don’t like the noise of the harmless machine
Moving all over their fleece

A butcher’s knife is different
Doesn’t make any noise

  1. A car speeding down the road
    A cool breeze flowing through
This’ on contrast with the weather
Their journey they put on hold

There in its magnificence lies the sea
The great habitat to the aquatics
    The tantalizing breeze emanating
    Surrounded by low grown trees

The crabs flowing with the tide
Immersed in the coolness of the sea
There is no need to hide
    The current is their guide

The birds from tree to tree
    Enjoying the solitude here
    Soothing music they blew
In appreciation of mother nature’s work
