Melancholic Sheen

Melancholic Sheen

For long she kept staring
Far away in the distance
A tinge of defeat and maybe acceptance
Colouring her face
She stood immobile
In the flowing river of time
Unconcerned
A few clouds and an empty sky
Is all that I could see
Where she had fixed her gaze
And I thought
She looked exactly like a Greek goddess
Carved from a rare marble
With a melancholic sheen
Couldn’t take my eyes away from her
Couldn’t comfort her
Though I wanted to
Pain is contagious
And no one can be immune
To it
