Pinnacle of Evolution

Pinnacle of Evolution

Dying isn’t limited to the old
Nowadays they die young even toddlers
Mutilated, hurt and burned
Or simply wasted
Drained by the effort of surviving
Poor die trying
Rich by drowning in luxuries
Bullets and bombs
missiles and knives
Come preloaded with names of their victims
Evolution has reached its pinnacle
If not,
Algorithms and AI are there to help
When means may not justify ends
Even when one strives hard to live
Every step tries to kill,
each moment hides death
Survival is the norm,
thriving an exception
Poverty or war, may not touch you
Doesn’t mean you will escape
For The One has let loose
On the world
Tyrants with hubris vast
Their ineptitude deeper still
Who command legions
of worshippers in salivating robes
of expectant devotion
The One for long
has lamented their empty halls
their scant offerings
and desecration of hallowed ground
Where they were worshipped
As Supreme
Or is the one a petulant hunger
for gold and greenbacks
and all that can be owned
bared their shark fins
and risen to the fore
Or is the one, the latest one
The dopamine surge that follows
Every tiny notification
Where myths and facts combine
and breed endless confusion
Centuries fly past
Newer supremes appear
alongside the old
What stays constant
Is the multitude of death
A single being endures
