Whale Song
A poem by Shashikant Dudhgaonkar
Surf crashed against my feet
In a lost state where I was not I
And the world had somehow dissolved
Into a cool breeze
Thousands of grains of sand
Kissed the soles of my feet
Each one marking its presence
In different places in different ways
An orchestra of touches tickles and pricks
Play its music on my feet
All other sounds slowly dimmed
Some froze and dangled in the air
Beyond reach
Though one sound came through clear
From the sand and surf on the beach
It felt as if my feet had grown ears
And could hear from miles away
A whale sing
Somewhere in the ocean deep
It spoke of longing, of desire, and even joy
A lover seeking love
A mother her calf
A friend looking out for a friend
Or someone singing just for the heck
A song to spread its joy

A very uplifting poem Shashi.

Beautifully written, Shashi! Your poem immerses the reader in the sensory magic of the beach, blending the physical and the ethereal seamlessly. 🌊
