A Different Kind Of Rain

Not always will rains evoke a beautiful feeling

A different kind of Rain

Raindrops drip from the ceiling

Collect in utensils

Of different sizes and shapes

Scattered all over the house

Yet many run in tiny streams

All over the floor

Over tired walls

Of a gloomy house

The rains outside

Flow on the road in streams

Travelling to distant rivers and fields

But raindrops entering the house

Soak the blankets

Already moist

With unending drought

Of hopes and dreams

  1. A very vividly painted scenario Shashi. It happened to us on a monsoon many years ago. Every roof in the house was leaking and all the buckets and utensils were employed to catch the drip. A very long rainy season and lots of flooding in the country.
