Father

Father – Poem by Shashikant Dudhgaonkar

Father

By: Shashikant Dudhgaonkar

Calloused rough hands and knotty fingers
Come together and sincerely pray
Their father looks always away
Unconcerned

Smooth and delicate hands too pray
Drop in the donation box
Wads of notes
Their father smiles at them
Lovingly

With not so calloused nor very smooth hands
People like me too pray
Thanking and not asking for anything
My father notices me sometimes
Though most of the times he avoids
I know and understand him completely
Even empathise with him
Those delicate hands need a lot of care
The rest can manage themselves without help
Easily

    • Rather that might be a fact. I am convinced.

As a doctor have seen a lot of suffering. And in people who had not commented any major crime. While the bigger criminals like the politicians and businessmen go Scot free.

There might be a heaven or hell. Don’t know. But what use it could be when the victims can’t see the perpetrators suffer in pain. Not in this world nor in afterworld.
