Forbidden Hill

Sometimes the night is long, sometimes the wine is good

Forbidden Hill

Once had gone to a hill

Which was not to be climbed

For evil spirits owned it

Where no humans could survive

Hike to the base was long

Through shrubs full of thorns

Before I reached the base

They had raised quite a storm

Come here I heard whispers

Don’t be afraid to climb

I would have fallen unconscious

Had it not for the wine

Thinking it was a hoax

I began my uphill climb

Through pebbles mud and loose rocks

Carefully one step at a time

With every few steps I stopped

To hear the enticing voice

It gently goaded me saying

Don’t be afraid to climb

By now I was on fire

To reach the top of the hill

Wine in stomach had all but

Reached my faltering mind

Stumbling crawling through the dust

Was making a lot progress

Had scrapped both palms and knuckles

Clothes dusty and in tatters

At last reached the summit

And what a sight it was

Under an empty black sky

Ground was a sea of flowing stars

I waded through the running lights

Touching and kissing them

Thought it was foolish of people

To give in to their fear

Just as I was settling down

The magnificent scene was gone

Sky had opened its jaws wide

In a mighty huge yawn

Before I realised what happened

I was swallowed by the dark

Moment next I was speeding

A star amidst flowing stars
