Seeds
A poem about war, power, forgotten victims and the seeds of future battles
War will end
Treaties will be signed
Everyone involved declaring themselves
Victorious
Monuments will be built
In black marbles
For the soldiers fallen
Wrapped in flags their bodies
Will be flown to their towns
To be buried with state honours
The close ones huddled in a corner
Holding back their tears
Overwhelmed by the solemn ceremony
State had offered
Their loss overcoming pride
As the grave is covered
And then there are those
Who died in their homes
On streets, in working places
In schools
They will not be forgotten
A plaque will be bolted
In their towns
In some obscure corner
The rabid dogs of profit
Have broken their cages
Uncontested, they have quickly
Occupied the thrones
Wars begin and wars end
These days
Under their directions
Most of humanity on the lower rungs
War or no war, tends to suffer
Their ignorance
And their eagerness to be seduced
By charisma, myths and tall tales
Carry the seeds
For new battles
