Shadows
Lately I haven’t met my shadow
Most of the times I look at the sky
With hope
From wherever I sit
The ceiling is not transparent
Yet I look above
Hoping a sky would appear
In my field of view
And even if I look below
There is nothing to see
Yesteryear’s filament lamps have gone
Emptying the houses of their shadows
With it
Anyways most of the times I am indoors
And when I go out during the day
I look at buildings
New old and those being build
And watch people walking on streets
Sometimes at night the streetlights flicker
With moon in the sky
Shadows lunge out from my feet
Though don’t remember noticing
The one who played with the shadows
Has long gone
Replaced by an all knowing being
