Wiped Slate
There’s a silence in the house
A deafening silence
Where there was ample noise
Just like all other houses
In the neighbourhood
Tears and fears
Present and future
Rolls down the cheeks
Of inhabitants of that house
As they stare at the wall
Few metres across
Memories yet to flood their mind
Which now stands blank
It’s slate wiped cleaned
By death dragging across it
That one life

Tragic and poignant
Beautiful Poem! It successfully represents the universal experience of mourning and the impact of death on the lives of those left behind through vivid imagery.
Thanks for going through it. It came to me when I experienced death of a colleague and saw the atmosphere in his house.
I’m sorry for the loss you experienced. Losing a dear one is indeed a significant and irreplaceable loss. The grief and void that comes with such a loss can be overwhelming and may never fully be filled.
wonderful. can’t find words to say further
Thanks for going through it. It’s unbearable in those moments. Even difficult to watch people who have lost their near ones suddenly .
